SNOW and TRAIL REPORT
Updated: Wednesday April 11, 2012
Skiing Report:
This will be the last weekend for ski trail grooming. There is still lots of snow, but tracks are wiping out from sun melt after a couple days. Trails will be groomed Thursday night for the all-school ski event on Friday. Come join Glacier view staff, students, family and friends for the last ski "Hurrah" this Friday April 13. Crust skiing is good on the nights temps are dipping below freezing. Try Caribou creek, or any of the Valley beyond milepost 115. Don't forget your sunscreen!
Thanks everybody for another great year of skiing. See you next winter.
"Don't forget to look up."
Snowmachine Report:
Spring riding is here - come try out the local trails on your way to/from Arctic Man or Valdez. You won't be disappointed. With our deep snow pack, riding should be good until the end of April. The ditch trail out of the Sheep Mtn Lodge parking lots has rotted, so use any of the pullouts along the Glenn Hwy between milepost 115-132 instead. Ride safe / ride Right. Please use caution in the mountains as there is lots of snow up high and avalanch danger is above normal, especially in the late afternoon.
Thanks for another great year of riding in the Sheep Mountain - Eureka area. See you next winter!
2012 Spring riding conditions.
Dog Mushing & Fat Tire Report
Multi-use trails are in and marked from the Sheep Mountain Lodge parking lot. Trailhead is starting to rot, perhaps good until the last weekend in March. Start along the highway going Eastbound. Fat tire riders are welcome to ride on the groomed multi-use snowmachine / dogmushing trails. Please do not ride on groomed XC ski trails.
Thanks to the Matanuska-Susitna Borough for supporting and helping to fund our trail grooming efforts for ALL trail users!
