Winter 2012 Employment Information
POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED
PLEASE CONSIDER APPLYING FOR OUR SUMMER JOBS
Unique winter employment opportunities exist at Sheep Mountain Lodge for 1 or 2 Lodgestaff. This is a great opportunity for an adventurous individual or couple who want to live and work in one of the most beautiful places in Alaska (Really – check us out on Google/www.tripadvisor.com/etc.) Job runs thru mid-May.
Job responsibilities may include:
Winter Lodgestaff job responsibilities may include: telephone reservations, cleaning cabins & housekeeping, upkeep of lodge facilities, snow removal, helping with group meals, trail grooming, and some care/feeding of our sled dogs. No 2 days are the same as this job entails a little bit of everything.
Qualifications may include:
Experience working in semi-remote winter locations. Customer service and-or foodservice background. Attention to detail and cleanliness required - housekeeping experience a plus. Ability to operate snow equipment such as snow blower and snowmachine. Cross-country ski trail grooming experience a bonus. Everything can be learned on site, but prior lodge/winter/customer service is a bonus.
We are interested in mature, reliable, interesting people who can enjoy themselves and their surroundings without the use of illegal drugs or excessive alcohol.
ABSOLUTELY NO PETS / NO DRUGS / NO SMOKERS.
Winter at the Lodge:
We live in a semi-remote location. Although we sit alongside a major road in Alaska, the nearest grocery store, gas station and major town is miles away. There is no TV and only a few radio stations. You must be self sufficient in your ability to “entertain” yourself on your days off. Winter backcountry skiing and wilderness recreation opportunities are endless. There is plenty of time for reading/relaxing/ or on-line education during days off.
We operate as a winter recreation destination during the winter/spring seasons. Our guests enjoy cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snow-shoeing and relaxation. Some cabins have full kitchens so food service in the lodge is limited to reservations by groups.
Full Internet access allows staff to continue online studies during their time off. Regular transportation is not provided and, although not necessary, we recommend that staff have their own car for personal use.
Work schedule/salary:
Winter Lodgestaff typically work 5 days on, 2 days off per week. Some days are very busy (especially when it snows) and some days are very quiet with time to read/relax. Daily schedule may vary – depends on weather (snow) and guests check in/out. No two days are the same.
Salary is $1600/mo plus tip share. Position includes free: on-site room, board, laundry, wireless internet. Job runs through mid-May.

Please send a resume, brief cover letter, and at least 3 professional work -related references with up-to-date contact information in MS Word (.doc) to: info@sheepmountain.com
